Blessed Miguel Agustín Pro (1891–1927), also known as Father Miguel Pro, was a Mexican Jesuit priest and martyr. He is celebrated for his courageous underground ministry during the fierce anti-Catholic persecution in Mexico under President Plutarco Elías Calles.
Born into a devout family in Guadalupe, Zacatecas, Pro entered the Jesuits in 1911. Religious persecution forced him to complete his studies abroad in the United States, Spain, Nicaragua, and Belgium, where he was ordained in 1925. He returned to Mexico in 1926 and served the outlawed Church by secretly celebrating Mass, hearing confessions, and ministering to the faithful—often in disguise. Arrested on false charges of assassination, he was executed by firing squad without trial on November 23, 1927. Facing death with arms outstretched like Christ on the cross, his last words were “¡Viva Cristo Rey!” (“Long live Christ the King!”). He was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 1988. His feast day is November 23.

Thread pressed into fabric isn't printed and forgotten; it's built to last, to be felt, to mean something. Just as the saints lived with quiet, enduring faithfulness, embroidery endures. It doesn't fade with the first wash or crack with time. It stays. And when you wear a saint's name over your heart, that permanence matters.
